Black Bamboo Claudia Midaxi Dress

Introducing the Black Bamboo Claudia Midaxi Dress, the newest version of our iconic Claudia Dress. As always, these are handmade in Somerset by designer Alexandra King. 

The Black Bamboo Claudia Midaxi Dress is a draped jersey dress with sash tie waist and bishop sleeves. It features a V-neck which can be either modest or more daring, depending on how you tweak the gathers which run through the body of the dress. There is also a split in the front so you can flash just a hint of leg as you walk!

The bamboo fabric has a beautiful, luxurious drape and weight to it, that makes this dress feel opulent and sophisticated. The Midaxi length is between our usual Midi and Maxi lengths, for a truly 40s femme fatale look. You'll still find the hidden pockets - our all-time favourite finishing touch! 

The Claudia Midaxi Dress perfectly combines our desire to look glamorous but still be comfortable! Cleverly designed, the dress is a one size fits most, up to a 46" bust. This is because the dress is cut with lots of fabric through the body. The sash belt gathers everything in for an elegant hourglass shape when you tie it at the waist. You can choose how and where you tie the sash for a fit tailored to you. The sash is also cut in soft and stretchy fabric so you can really cinch your waist in. This ingenious design means you can pretty much always grab this dress and throw it on!

The transformation from unflattering smock shape to luxuriously draped dress has to be seen to be believed! Take a peek through the photos to see what the dress looks like before the sash is tied. Tying the sash is easy - simply wrap it around your body once or twice (it's up to you!) and knot it. Just try to ensure the sash isn't twisted and that it is lying flat. Inspiration

Inspired by a dress worn by Barbara Stanwyck in the 1944 Film Noir drama Double Indemnity and lots of classic loungewear from the era. We gave our version the Deadly treatment to vamp it up even more!
