This week’s chapter in our ‘Pinup’s Guide to Body Confidence’ looks at how we can help ourselves to feel good both mentally and physically about ourselves. We share some top tips on how you can feel good about you and how you can look after yourself.
Tip Number 1: Give yourself a compliment
Who doesn’t love to receive a compliment? It can instantly lift someones mood and make someone smile. So why not give yourself a compliment? Instead of focussing on the parts of our bodies we dislike or want to change, why not focus on something you do like and tell yourself that! If your having a good hair day then tell yourself “I love my hair today!” We’d also recommend standing in front of a mirror and while looking at yourself, compliment yourself out loud on three different things you like. It can be anything; sparkley eyes, strong cheek bones, a great butt or curvy hips! You may feel a bit silly talking to yourself but we deserve to know what we like about ourselves and to feel happy!
Tip Number 2: Look After You and Your Body
You and your body are extremely important and in this fast paced world we forget to look after ourselves and our bodies some times. Be sure to plan some time just for you to stop and do something that will help you to relax and feel rejuvenated. Why not run a hot bubble bath, curl up with a good book, take part in yoga class or go for a walk in the countryside. We all have different ways of relaxing so whatever helps you to feel yourself again then be sure to make time for you time!
Tip Number 3: Ignore Others Insecurities
We completely understand that we all have may hang ups about our bodies and some days we may not feel good about ourselves. However, someone else’s insecurities don’t have to be yours. For example, if a friend doesn’t like their thighs it doesn’t mean you also have to dislike your thighs, they could be one of your favourite features! Instead of agreeing that you also may not like something about yourself, why not give that person a compliment as it could help make their day…”you may not like your thighs but I think you’ve got an amazing set of pins!”
Tip Number 4: Dress for you!
If you want to wear that fabulous velvet number but the only place you have to go to is the supermarket, then do it! If all you want to wear is those spotty flannel pyjamas because it’s been a tough week, then do it! Dress for you and what makes you feel good! If there is something in your wardrobe that you’ve been desperate to wear but you don’t have the ‘right occasion’ then the only thing stopping you from wearing it, is you. Who cares what anyone else will think?! As long as you are happy and you feel good with what you are wearing, that is all that matters. Deadly’s Shop Girl and Model Scarlett has confessed to wearing heels to do her supermarket shop because she just wanted too. Dress for you and no one else!
Tip Number 5: Do What Makes You Happy
This sounds pretty obvious but when we work 9-5 five days a week or possibly more, do we find the time to ask ourselves, are we happy? Life is too short to be stressed about anything so take charge of your destiny and do what make you happy. Maybe you need a career change or to go on that dream holiday or maybe you simply need to change your routine. Whatever makes you happy, whether you take a leap of faith or plan small steps, make your happiness a reality.
